The Northern Ireland Tractor Pulling Championships will be held at the European & Northern Ireland Ploughing Contest in Drumahoe, Derry-Londonderry on 5th & 6th October 2012.
It will be a welcome return for the sport which was last seen at the ploughing at the World Contest in 2004 in Ballykelly and proved a huge success. The contest, which will be run by the Irish Tractor Pulling Committee (ITPC), will form part of the Northern Ireland Tractor Pulling Championships. Tractor enthusiast's will be able to enjoy the noise and smoke of especially built supercharger tractors to see which one is the most powerful. For those wishing to compete, there will be the opportunity to bring your own tractor along to the ploughing and give it a go. There will be 3 classes - 5.5 tonne, 7.5 tonne and then the heavier tractors. The top 3 in each class on Friday's competition will then qualify to compete against the mighty superchargers on Saturday aiming to become Northern Ireland's Tractor Pulling Champion. Another feature of this year's ploughing championships will be dyno testing - which will allow tractor owners to test, measure and record the actual power of a tractor being delivered via the PTO. We look forward to seeing you at the ploughing championships in Drumahoe on 5th & 6th October - and why not go one better and bring your tractor along and enter! More information will appear here nearer the time or you can visit the ITPC website by clicking on the ITPC link or phone Harky Watts 07894451128 or Tom Cochrane on 07860315195 or email us on info@niploughing.com. All farm tractors must be there by 10am for weigh-in. As there will be a limited number that can compete, allocation will be on a first come, first served basis. |
